Annual Science Days 2025 (ASD25) is the premier European forum for cutting-edge soil science, bringing together leading researchers, policymakers, funders, and innovators to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: building a sustainable food system rooted in healthy soils. Over two dynamic days, participants will engage with the latest scientific breakthroughs, explore transformative innovations, and contribute to high-level discussions on climate adaptation, mitigation, and soil monitoring.

The conference offers a unique opportunity to network across disciplines and sectors, fostering collaborations that can accelerate impact. At the heart of the event is the EJP SOIL programme — a rich source of knowledge, tools, and validated practices. ASD25 provides the ideal platform to explore how these outputs can be leveraged to inform policy, guide investment, and support the transition to resilient agricultural systems. Whether you’re shaping research agendas or implementing change on the ground, this is where the future of soil and food begins.

Program overview

Day 1 - Advances in Science

October 6th

Topics:
Sustainable soil management / Climate change mitigation / Climate change adaptation/ Soil information assessing & monitoring.

Day 1 of ASD25 is dedicated to showcasing the latest scientific advances in soil research. Through keynote presentations, breakout sessions, and poster discussions, participants will explore innovations in sustainable soil management, climate adaptation and mitigation, and soil monitoring. The day fosters knowledge exchange, highlights emerging research, and sets the stage for future collaboration

A full day of scientific exchange, featuring:

  • Keynote presentations on sustainable soil management, climate change adaptation, climate change mitigation, and soil information, assessing and monitoring
  • Breakout sessions with talks, workshops, and poster pitches
  • Poster session & networking reception

Day 1 will conclude with a social dinner followed by cocktails, a DJ, and an open dance floor — a perfect opportunity to unwind and connect with fellow participants

Day 2 - Impactful Dialogue

October 7th

Topics:
Long-term needs in soil knowledge / knowledge to practice, pedoclimatic zones / practices & innovations and market readiness.

A strategic day of collaboration and vision-building. Day 2 of ASD25 is dedicated to impactful dialogue, aiming to bridge science with policy, funding, and innovation. The day focuses on identifying long-term knowledge needs, validating EJP SOIL outputs, and exploring how these can be deployed in real-world contexts. Through panels, breakout dialogues, and roundtables, participants will co-create strategies to accelerate the transition toward sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural systems.

  • Panels on future agricultural systems and enabling transformation
  • Breakout dialogues on long-term knowledge needs and innovation deployment
  • Roundtables on validation and valorisation of EJP SOIL assets
